Some 127,093 cans are recycled every minute nationwide.

According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, aluminum cans represent less than one half of one percent (0.4 percent) of the nation’s solid waste stream.

It is estimated that since 1972, some 17 million tons of aluminum cans have been recycled.  These 852.4 billion aluminum cans placed end to end would stretch to the moon more than 270 times.

News Flash!

350,000 Tons of Aluminum

Anheuser Busch Companies Inc., the world’s largest brewer recycled more than 700 million pounds or 350,000 tons of aluminum cans in 2001 according to the company’s 2001 environmental Health and Safety Report.

The report states that the number of cans Anheuser-Busch recycled was more than 25 percent greater than the number of cans the company shipped during the year.
